A New Jersey woman, Kelly Schreiber, has been banned for life from owning horses after admitting guilt before Mansfield Municipal Court. Two horses were seized from Schreiber’s farm last February, after going for days without food, their water completely frozen and one horse suffering from extreme frostbite. The horse with frostbite, a 9 year old Thoroughbred, died during emergency surgery. In addition to a lifetime ban on owning horses, Schreiber was also fined $4,500 and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to the SPCA.
