On December 24, the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) was asked by law enforcement to rescue a horse with a horribly ingrown halter. When their Equine and Livestock Team arrived at the property they found a 3 year old mare with a halter that had been left on since she was much younger. The halter was cutting deeply into her face with raw, open wounds and infection.
The owners agreed to sign the horse, now named AJ, over to the HSNT. AJ was rushed to Outlaw Equine Hospital to have the halter removed. AJ is looking at a long rehabilitation ahead, but HSNT is hopeful that she will make a full recovery.
