Horse With Missing Hoof – Owner Charged

A Bozeman, Montana arena owner was in court for the first time since being charged with animal cruelty, again.  The case stems from photos and reports made in March of a horse, missing one of its hooves, laying on its side and a calf with a broken neck at the Kountz Arena.  Reports were made at the time to the Sheriff department, which called out a vet, who ordered the animals euthanized.  The horse had been injured in December of 2014, and Kountz had been keeping him alive to collect seman.  Dayle Kountz, owner of Kountz Arena, has plead “Not Guilty” to animal cruelty.  If convicted he faces up to 4 years in prison.  Dayle Kountz was convicted of Animal Cruelty in 1999.
