Two horses were locked in stalls for 15 years without any farrier work according to Days End Horse Rescue, which assisted in rescuing the horses. 3 horses in total were rescued from the undisclosed location in Washington County, MD, two of which had hooves that curled in 3′ long circles. The hooves are the worst neglect the Rescue has encountered in their 26 years of operation. The two horses with extremely long hooves, a stallion and a miniature stallion, were locked in stalls with 3-4′ of manure. The 3rd horse rescued on the property, a miniature mare, was euthanized due to ‘ruptured ligaments causing irreparable fetlock dislocation’.
