A Delaware man, Ceba Horsey, is being charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty when he failed to successfully chemically euthanize his horse by injection. Horsey told fellow boarders he was going to euthanize his horse because he had a broken leg. The other boarders were horrified and called police. The responding deputy found Horsey’s horse laying in tall grass away from the boarding stable, with used syringes around the animal and injection marks in his neck. The horse was still alive and in obvious pain, so the deputy euthanized it with his sidearm upon the advice and instruction of a veterinarian. An arrest warrant was issued for Horsey and he is currently in custody on a $5,000 bond. The chemical’s Horsey used in his attempt to euthanize his horse are unknown at this time.
