New York Police Horse Bites Off Woman’s Finger

fingerA 28 year old Swedish born woman, Pernilla Ekberg, is suing the New York Police Department after one of its mounted patrol horses bit off part of her finger.  The incident happened at about 2:30 am November 15th.  Ekberg had emerged from a bar when she asked the officer if she could pet his horse.  Allegedly he invited her to pet his mount, and when she gently touched the horse, it bit her fingertip off and then dropped it on the ground.  The officer then rode away without making any effort to provide medical assistance or file any incident reports.  Her finger was unable to be reattached and her suit alleges it interferes with her work as a typist for a data-technology company.
