Two years ago, in Lake Stevens, Washington, horse trainer Nola Butler was seen by two witness’ beating a horse, named Megan, in the face until she went down to her knees, and then kicked her repeatedly in the stomach, leaving blood pouring from the horse.  “She did make me angry because I have never experienced a mare that so disregarded a human’s safety.” Butler told the court.  When the witness’ told Butler to stop, she said “If you don’t like it, then leave.”  The attack on Megan left blood and swelling where she was struck and kicked.  Facing a year in jail, Butler laughed out loud several times during testimony.  Due to her lack of animal cruelty record, the judge sentenced her to $1,000 fine, 40 hours of community service and take additional training.
