The US Fish and Wildlife Service has rejected a petition to classify wild horses as a threatened or endangered species. The petition was brought by the Cloud Foundation and Friends of Animals, which sought to have wild horses classified as a distinct species of horse which deserved federal protection. “Although behaviors between domestic and wild, or feral, animals of the same species may differ … we find that the petition does not present substantial information that the North American wild horse may be markedly separate from other populations of horse as a consequence of behavioral differences” a spokesman for the agency said.
The Cloud Foundation and Friends of Animals are considering their options for appealing.Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
