Brunswick, Georgia – The Three Oaks Farm was expecting a new foal, but owner Tommie Crum was surprised to see how small she is. The newborn was born Tuesday morning, to Ella, and measures just 17 inches tall. The little filly, for now unnamed, was born between 6:00 am and 9:30 am. Ella is a dwarf miniature horse, so having a small baby isn’t surprising. Typically dwarf miniatures are between 19 and 22 inches tall at birth.
Crum told reporters the little filly, as far as she knows, is the one of the smallest horses in the country. Itty Bitty Hope, born last year, was significantly smaller, measuring only 14″ tall and weighing 13 lbs, tying him for the smallest horse ever born.
