Baby Horse Saved by Firefighters

Baby Horse

Castro Valley, California – A concerned member of the community stopped by Alameda County Fire Department Station 6 in Castro Valley and reported a lost baby horse on Crow Creek Rd.  Engine 6, manned by Captain J. Martinez, Engineer D. Rardin and Firefighter M. Zherebnenko, responded to the scene and were able to find the baby horse.  He was scared, dehydrated, weak and alone.

The firefighters called for Animal Control to respond to the scene, but they were unavailable.  Firefighters then called Alta Vista Equestrian Center, and a “Who Rescues Who” volunteer responded within 20 minutes.  The baby horse was carried to the road and placed in the backseat of a pickup for transportation to the Alta Vista Equestrian Center.

The baby horse is doing well at the center and has recovered from his scary ordeal.  There are no reports on who his mother is or how he got to be lost.
