San Francisco, California – A Clydesdale horse, Daniel, fell over 20′ down a cliff near San Fransisco, rescuers say. He landed on his side in a dry creek bed and was unable to stand. Weighing over 2,000 pounds, firefighters knew they had to work extra carefully to get him to safety. They used special straps to gently hoist Daniel to safety up the very steep bank. He was transported to UC Davis Large Animal clinic for treatment and rehabilitation. He was diagnosed with muscle damage in his legs along with nerve damage in his hind end from the fall.
Daniel is recovering well at the hospital and veterinarians hope he can go home this week.
