An emaciated horse was seized from a boarding stable in San Diego. Animal Service officers seized Molonko at the Tijuana River Valley stable’s. Molonko is a 7-year-old mare who is very skinny, had sores on her withers, and only nails remaining on her front hooves from shoes that were never pulled. Molonko’s owner, who was responsible for her food and care at the stable, told other boarders that he was just going to let her die.
3 years ago, when Molonko was 4, Animal Service officers responded to complaints about Molonko’s condition. They advised the owner on proper feed and nutrition for a horse. They did a followup a year later and Molonko had gained some weight, but since then Malanko has been receiving the nutrition and care she needs.
