Barre, Vermont – Police have been searching for the person responsible for shooting a beloved 23-year-old Quarterhorse mare, Bunny, in early October. Bunny was shot in the stomach with an arrow and left to die in her pasture. Bunny was a fixture in the community, and many people learned to ride on her. Her senseless killing shocked, saddened and angered not only her family, but many others as well. “Everybody knew Bunny around here. Anybody who rode in Central Vermont knew Bunny,” owner Regan Howard told reporters.
Police have arrested Quinton Clayton, 20, and charged him with animal cruelty. He had an outstanding warrant for selling marijuana on school property. Police are still unsure of his motive for the killing. “Shooting Bunny in the middle of the night with an arrow makes no sense,” said Barre police Chief Tim Bombardier. Police believe Clayton stole the bow and arrow he used to shoot Bunny.Author: Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
