Sacramento, California – The annual Western States Horse Expo kicked off Friday to an underwhelming start.  As the weekend wore on, the crowds never materialized, leaving many vendors scrambling to cover the high cost of hosting a booth at the event.  Reports from visitors consistently complain about a lack of exhibitors, lack of horses, and the same clinicians and shows as previous years.   With a booth running a minimum of $1,200 for a 10 x 10 space, many vendors could not justify the cost of attending the expo.

Went to the Horse Expo in Sacramento today, such a disappointment, it’s the smallest it has ever been and alot of vendors I was wanting to buy from were not there… – Stacey R.

Horse expo is really small now but still fun. Love the gypsys. No money left tho. – Jennifer D.

Expo was not worth the price to get in.  Only 2 buildings the tent no up stairs 10 sale horses and maybe 12 horses other than the sale horses – Victoria P.

I agree with saying it is expensive for vendors. If they want to breath life back into it they need to lower the price of having a booth. Maybe offer early registration special or something. Sad. I have always loved the expo but the last few years it has been getting worse and worse. – Kelly G.

Very disappointed, not as busy as last year, everything seemed dead. – Cassey H.

R.I.P expo – Samantha G.

Many attendees wonder if the Horse Expo will even return to Sacramento next year.
