Clint, Texas – A Texas woman was horrified when she walked onto a vacant property a couple weeks ago. “Live horses, dead horses, a dog’s head and lots of dogs, they were in really bad condition,” Brenda Rangel told reporters. Rangel’s friend lives in front of the vacant house and had told her they were hearing the horses moan in pain. Rangel may not have understood the need for immediate law enforcement intervention, and fed the animals for 2 weeks, until someone called the Sheriff department.
Officers with the El Paso County Sheriff department investigate the vacant house and property. They report finding 5 live horses and 6 live dogs in horrible condition. Animal Control could not remove the animals until they obtained a warrant. The Sheriff Department tried to contact the owner of the property, but were unable. ” We are working on getting in contact with the owner,” a Sheriff spokesperson told reporters. “At one point in time it was believed to have been occupied and our records show that linked to this location there may have been a possible fire, which may have affected the resident at the time.”
For now, the animals are left on the property with their dead friends. The owner of the property is facing felony animal abuse if convicted for the mistreatment of their animals.
