Salem, Oregon – About a month ago, a concerned neighbor called the Sheriff department about a horse they believed was being neglected. When officers arrived at Randi Solorzano’s residence, they were “immediately concerned” for the well being of her horse, Doug. Solozano told deputies that 20-year-old Doug was under a veterinarians care. Deputies followed up with the veterinarian, who confirmed that Doug was on medication and a special diet to gain weight.
Deputies kept a close eye on the horse, and when Solorzano missed vet appointments and Doug continued to deteriorate, officers arrested Solorzano for animal abuse. She was booked into Marion County Jail and released on a $2,500 bond. Doug was taken to a rescue center where it is hoped he will recover. When Doug was seized from Solorzano’s home, he scored a 1 on the Henneke Body Score. 46-year-old Solorzano, according to her arrest information, weighs 223 lbs and is 5 foot, 2 inches tall.
