17 year old Olivia Inglis was killed Sunday when her horse, Coriolanus, failed to clear a jump and fell at a championship event at the New South Wales Hunter Valley. Coriolanus suffered a displaced fracture in his neck and was euthanized Wednesday morning. Olivia was crushed under Coriolanus and despite the heroic efforts of the emergency medical personal, died almost immediately. Her horrified parents were in the stands cheering their daughter on when the accident occurred at the 8th gate.
The Inglis family is one of the premier horse families in Australia. Their family business roots surrounding horses go back to 1867.
#RideForOlivia has been exploding across the internet with the equestrian community at large support Olivia’s family. All photos shared with the hashtag will be used to make a large composite photo of Olivia riding her horse.
