A winning racehorse in England, Actinpieces, only allows females jockeys to ride her. “She’s not too keen on men,” Pamela Sly, her trainer, told CNN. “I’ve never had a horse who’s been like this before.” Actinpieces is fine with her usual jockey, Gina Andrews, or her sister Bridgett, but if any male jockeys try to mount the feisty mare, she throws a fit. “She tried to buck him off as soon as he [Jack] got on,” Sly told reporters. Andrews explained “When he went to get on her she tried to bite him. It’s quite funny because she doesn’t normally do it when I get on. She’s only had women riders.” Actinpieces also pins her ears at any male who enters her stall.
Actinpieces’ groomer is a man, but “I think she’s confused because he’s got long hair,” Andrews explained to reporters.
While Sly doesn’t believe Actinpieces will ever win the Grand National, she does believe she has a winning career in front of her. She recently beat the favorites ZeroShadesofGrey at the Yorkshire race, showing that she has the right stuff to be a winner.Author: Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
