Netherlands – The Food Guerrilla restaurant has started serving a new burger, and it’s causing a stir around the world.  The restaurant, ran by chef  Babbe Hengeveld, now has My Little Pony Burger on the menu for about $18.  The burger is made from retired ponies and horses from a nearby amusement park, and is supplied by an offbeat food truck called “The Unwanted Animal Kitchen.”  Hengeveld admits the burger is not the most popular food in her restaurant.  “They don’t sell well because people do feel bad about the idea of eating horse,” she told Vice Munchies. “For some, horses will always be seen as pets in the same way dogs are. Cows and chickens, in many Western cultures, aren’t kept as pets so they’re OK for food.  I just need to throw away the meat sometimes. For people to understand, you really have to explain to them clearly about the unwanted ponies and horse meat. When I’m cooking in the kitchen, I don’t always have time for this.”

Blogger Laila Baker asked Chef Hengeveld if she would eat her dog.  “No, I consider my dog as a family member, like horse girls do with their own horse.  But dog you can just eat you know.”
