Sydney, Australia – For the second time in 2 months, a teenager has died at a major equestrian event in Australia. As reported in March, Olivia Inglis died after her horse failed to clear a jump. Now, 19-year-old Caitlyn Fischer died in a very similar accident at the Sydney International Horse Trials on Saturday. Caitlyn’s horse clipped the 2nd jump and landed on top of her, crushing her to death immediately. A Paramedic and Doctor worked valiantly to revive her, but were unsuccessful. Two separate investigations have been launched, one by the police and the other an internal investigation by the equestrian center.
Caitlyn is remembered as an expert horse rider who competed in plenty of competitions before this event. The jump was not considered technical nor was she riding at a fast pace.
