The story of Lara Dewees’ tragic accident and subsequent passing away has been tearing hearts across the nation and around the world. Many people have been calling for mandatory helmet requirements for all rodeo horseback events. After the accident her horse, Ginny, was taken to a nearby veterinarian clinic and is doing well.
Lara leaves behind an 18 month old baby and her fiance to whom she was recently engaged. Lara is remembered for her beautiful singing voice and the passion and compassion that she taught her children as a school teacher at the Hernando School District. She previously battled cancer, and won.
A Running for Lara Memorial Barrel Race is planned for Saturday, March 26 at the Double R Arena in Dade City, Florida. Over 454 have stated they are going with over 1,000 interested on the Facebook Event page.
