Opelousas, Louisiana – As first reported on June 21st, Dr Drip, a once great champion, was seized by the St Landry Parish Animal Control and Rescue. Dr Drip was emaciated, and nearly his entire back was an open wound with maggots crawling through his flesh. The attending veterinarian believed he had been ridden with a day or two of being seized.
Jermaine Doucet Jr., 18, of Opelousas was arrested and booked for felony animal cruelty. “We think that Mr. Doucet should have noticed the weight being lost of course we all seen the pictures and the sores and the maggots and stuff and should’ve sought help for this horse,” Major Eddie Thibodeaux of the St. Landry Parish Sherriff department said.
Doucet turned himself into jail once an arrest warrant was issued, and bonded out. He refused to talk to reporters, other than to admit he is the own of Dr Drip.
Despite the veterinarian’s best efforts, Dr Drip was humanely euthanized.Author: Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
