Austin, Texas – When two mounted officers, one riding veteran police horse named Moonshine, approached a man staggering around in the street, they never suspected the man would assault the horse. 42-year-old Eloy Villanueva had slurred speech and fell on the ground when officers made contact with him.
When Villaneuva collapsed on the ground, the officers requested an ambulance to take him to the hospital. While waiting for the ambulance, Villaneuva regained his footing and began petting Moonshine. Without warning, he punched Moonshine in the nose, causing the horse to throw his head up.
Villaneuva was handcuffed and booked into Travis County Jail a few hours later after being examined by medical personal. He is being held on a $7,500 bond, and is facing felony interference with a police animal, and a lesser charge of public intoxication.Author: Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
