Miami Gardens, Florida – During the pregame ceremonies for the Orange Bowl, Florida State Seminole’s mascot, Renegade, stumbled and fell.  Renegade appeared to be wearing a bit and bridle that were far too tight, and as his rider was about to plant the flag, he began to stumble backwards and then fell.  Renegade was kept under control by bystanders, and his rider quickly remounted and rode off the field.

Renegade appeared to be unhurt.  Experts who have seen the video believe the bridle may have been too tight, which would tend to cause a horse to back up and have distress while being ridden.
