Monroe, Washington – In a post warning people to check their divider pins, Professional Equine Services, a mobile vet, shared photos about a horse that could have been seriously injured or killed when the divider pins came loose. The divider and horse apparently thrashed around inside the trailer for quite some time before the mare became wedged under the now loose divider.
It is reported the cotter pins were missing from the divider pins, and when the trailer went over a bump, the divider came loose. During the accident, the divider punched several holes in the roof.
Dr. Dana, DVM, arrived and sedated the horse. The saddle and hay bags were removed, and ropes tied around the back legs of the mare. Firefighters arrived about that time, and helped remove the wedged divider. The mare was dragged from the trailer, and laid on the ground until the sedate wore off. She sustained no injuries during the incident.
