Hudson, Maine – Fire crews with the Hudson Fire Department were called to rescue a horse whose hooves had become trapped in a bridge. The horse and its rider were crossing the bridge when the horse’s front hooves became lodged between the boards.
While fire crews were working to free its hooves, the horse unexpectedly fell over onto its rider, who was trying to keep the horse calm. The rider and a second person were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The fire department called for a veterinarian to sedate the horse. Once sedated, a front loader was brought in to pull the horse to safety. The horse suffered only minor injuries through his ordeal.
