Photos posted on Facebook have lit the internet on fire, but the origins remains shrouded in mystery. In the series of photos, poorly trimmed hooves are see with what appear to be drywall screws holding some kind of shoes or pad onto the bottom of the hooves. A followup comment to the photos showed after photos of well trimmed, cared for hooves that are allegedly of the hooves that were screwed together.
No trained farrier would ever consider using screws to hold pads or shoes onto a horse’s hooves. The resulting damage if the shoe or pad was caught on something and ripped the screw through the hoof would be catastrophic.
