Warning: The abuse described in this article is not for children
Mississippi – The Mississippi Animal Rescue League received a call from an animal control officer that would shake the veteran rescuers to their core. The officer informed them they had a little pony that was skinny and seemed to be abused. MARL agreed to take the pony, and when the officer delivered her, the staff were horrified.
The pony, named Willow, was emaciated, weak, and had trouble walking. She had been found in a shed attached to a house whose owner had died. A family member was closing down the house and found Willow inside the shed with only a concrete floor. She had a bucket of water but no food was found.
Willow’s tail had been cut off at the spine, and there were obvious signs of mutilation and prolonged sexual abuse. “Her vulva was like a piece of raw meat and we could see what looked like two pieces of wire attached on both sides of her anus. You could see the marks on her rear legs where she had been restrained. Our vet feels there may have been some tendon damage from repeated tight restraint,” Mississippi Animal Rescue League wrote on their Facebook post. “[W]e took her to the equine vet that helps us. He had never seen anything this bad. He gave her a light sedation to check her out and found a total of five hog nose rings around her anus and in her rectum. This effected her ability to empty her bowels in a normal manner. He removed them.”
Willow has survived her abuse, and the staff at MARL expect her to recover, and surprisingly, learn to trust people once again.Author: Dale Williams <-- Become my friend on Facebook! - Phone: 724-964-6773
